Pool Safety

Hey, I'm new here and soon to be a new pool owner. I'm so excited, but also concerned about safety as I have a 4 year old son. What's best, the safety net or the safety fence around the pool? We have a 6 ft. wood fence around the yard, but I was thinking about an aluminum or steel type fence to go around the pool so the kids can still play on the swing set/trampoline and not run into or fall into the pool. I have a 10 year old son that knows how to swim, but the 4 year old hasn't had any lessons yet...I'm working on it.
Thanks in advance!

I'm in favor of a fence with self closing and locking gates plus an alarm. Unless you live in a rural area, you'll probably be required to have the fence by local code or your insurance company, and most backyard fences don't meet the requirements.
