I have some type of port next to the seat in the deeper end of my pool, its above the waterline and appears to do nothing, any idea what it may be for?

If its just a pvc pipe into the pool I'd bet its an overflow. If its set in the upper half of the tile that is what it is.

I suppose that could be what it is, but does it ever do anything?

It may be a water fill port (it would, typically, be supplied by an underground pipe to a hose bib at the house).

I have a 1/2" pipe coming out of my coping. It is a fill line that I can turn on with a water valve by the house.
