How to blow out dual main drain on AGP

First year closing the pool, 10000 gal. it has 2 bottom drains. The drains lead to a pipe coming out of the ground near the equipment. there is currently a hayward 3 way valve connected to it leading to skimmer and pump. the previous homeowners left a cap for the bottom drain pipe with a strange looking metal fitting on top. Is there some sort of attachment for an air compressor to fit to this and its some kind of one way valve? Im pretty lost here.

Do you have a picture of the metal thing you are talking about? I assume you blow out an AGP main drain just like you would an IGP main drain. Blow til it bubbles then close the valve.

Most valves will just slowly leak the air out, resulting in the water filling up the pipe. I use cyclone til I see good bubbles, close off valve and immediately insert a pressure plug. That ensures the water stays out of the line.

The valve I use wont hold the air maybe ill get one next season that will, I will post a picture a soon as I can . Thanks for the replies.

I just figured it out... its the same piece thst would be on a tire. So a tire inflator is what I would use to blow it out. It had a strange looking cap so it threw me off.

So you can blow it out and leave that in there as the plug.
