    Back Flushing Cartridge Filter

looking to setup the plumbing for a back flushing a cartridge filter.

have anyone done so? what were your results.

    upon inspection of the cartridge.
during normal flow. the cartridge does have a hard plastic backing on the inside of the cartridge. that is probably what keeping the cartridge from tearing apart as the water is push against it.
in reverse flow. there will be nothing backing the outside of the cartridge. so there is the possibility that the cartridge can rip apart.

    Re: Back Flushing Cartridge Filter

    Welcome to TFP!

If you run the water backwards through a cartridge filter you will almost always destroy the cartridge. There is nothing to hold the cartridge fabric in place, so it will blow up like a ballon and almost always tear.
