Sand or cartridge filter

Thinking of switching to a sand filter. Currently have a cartridge filter that we have to clean 1 or 2 times per week. On our 3rd filter in 5 years. Thoughts?

You shouldn't have to clean a cartridge filter that often. Something is either not sized properly or some other issue is occurring. I haven't had to clean my cartridge filter all summer.

The higher you go up in square footage the longer you could go in between cleanings. The more the fabric, the more dirt it can catch before it gets too dirty to filter properly.

What is your price range? I can give you an idea what to look for.

The thread seems to be veering back towards a new filter. That's fine if you want one, but I will repeat this post because it is glaringly true.....
Too frequent cleaning of ANY type filter is a pool chemistry issue most ALL the time......usually invisible algae.

Can you post a set of test results?
