Winterizing question

My pool company has a pump cover with a hose fitting attachment through it to blow all the lines. Is this safe for the pump itself? Being a firefighter I know what can happen when air gets into a pump

Air gets into the pump every time you clean the pump basket ... should be fine. That is why the pumps are "self-priming" so they can purge the air.
