Ph and pool equipment damage

Low pH makes the water more aggressive to metal pool parts such as pump components, robot/cleaner parts, lights, ladders, etc. It also can accelerate the wear and break down of rubber and plastic components. It can also cause vinyl liners to have shorter life spans before they become brittle and begin to leak. Depending on other chemistry levels affecting CSI, low pH can also damage plaster surfaces. I'm not sure how they would change the life span of a fiberglass lined pool. Low pH can also cause staining in extreme cases where pool heater elements are corroded by acidic pool water, dissolving metals in the water.

Low pH will cause the lifetime of many pool components to be much shorter than they could be, in general.
