When I vacuum my pool I get all the sediment or dead algae flowing back through my return lines. I then end up with a cloudy pool and have struggled with keeping it crystal clear this whole summer. I have also noticed that even when I close off one skimmer or return that I still have water etc. coming out of both returns when I vacuum. Is my multi-port valve broken?

It would be unusual to have a valve on a return unless you have a spa. Normally the valves are for skimmers and main drains.
If you are sure the multiport valve is on filter, it really sounds more like damage to the laterals, insufficient sand or an excessively large filter.
