Sand under pool not firm

I had my above ground pool installed on 5/10/14. I waited about a month before going in. When I go in now it is still soft and I can feel the sand shift slightly under feet at times. Will this harden over the years or is this a sign my installer did it improperly? Thanks

Sand is exactly that.....Sand. It will shift, wash, etc. How thick is the sand bed?

Yea sand doesn't compact very well. I used screenings under mine. Screenings compact good. ?
