My SWG crapped out on my, so in the mean time of my choosing a new system and it begin the weekend, do I need to bring my FC up to a higher level until I can get a new unit install?

Just maintain FC between minimum and target for your CYA level until it is repaired. Liquid chlorine is recommended as solids will increase CYA. Bleach or chlorinating liquid will work.
