Hi, I have a Smartemp heat pump model T-1000 on my pool that keeps on freezing up. I have an AC guy looking at it but we have no doc on it. Does anyone have a manual or any data sheets on it?

Some basic reasons for freezing:
1. Evaporator air coil dirty. Spray the coil with coil cleaner or "SimpleGreen" and flush thoroughly with water.
2. Evaporator fan motor failing or controls failing to energize it intermittently.
Fan could be overheating and dropping out intermittently, check current draw, temperature, and capacitor.
3. Low refrigerant charge, need gauges to check,
or if you don't have gauges test capacity by water flow and temp rise.
The formula for capacity is as follows.
(500 x gpm x Δ water temperature) + (watts of compressor x 3.412) = btuh capacity
4. Restricted refrigerant circuit. Sometimes filter driers can become restricted.
Metering devices can also become restricted, could fail, or freeze due to low charge.
