Instsalling a 120v DPST timer to 240v pump possible?

I have a 120v woods 59103r DPST timer from a prior install when the pump was 120v. We went with a bigger pump to pool water through a solar collector and had to run 240v for the pump. Would it be feasible to re-use the old timer and run the 120v lines from the breaker to 1/3 and then load from 2/4 to the pump and just forget the neutral all together?

TIA

I am not sure that will work because the timer is not setup to run on 240V and would still require a neutral. Which would also mean that only one side of the 240V LINES would be running the clock and would throw a GFCI breaker, assuming you have one.

For a 220/240 pump you don't use the neutral anyway. You need a two-pole timer to switch both lines and a timer motor that runs on 220/240.
