Bubbles / low water in Intelliflo basket at low speeds

I just installed a new intelliflo VS pump and it works great at high speed, no bubbles, but at lower speed (ie 1700 rpm) it starts to get some air in the basket that eventually drops several inches. Any thoughts?

That's normal for an intelliflo on low speed

Seriously? Is it okay for the pump to run that way? I always thought air in the basket was bad.

Its only bad if there is no water in the pump basket but a little air won't hurt. How quickly does the water level drop 2"? You could just need a little pool lube on the lid gasket.

It takes a few hours at a lower speed -1700 RPM or so. When run faster, 3000 or so it immediately filles the basket and stays that way

I would try the lube on the lid gasket.
