Trying to SLAM...mainly due to algae problems

Oh, remember you are supposed to lower the pH before starting to SLAM. As long as the FC is under ten, get that pH down between 7.2 and 7.4
 
pH reads artificially high when FC>10. Very likely, your pH was fine where it was, and is currently too low.
Where do you get that? Started at 7.8, adjusted the pH down and also added chlorine. No mention of a second pH test. :scratch:

I assume the confusion was why the FC is so high. Maybe either the bleach was strong, the pool is smaller than you think, or both, or a testing error.

Yes. You claim 2 hours, but did not post for nearly a day. I don't understand either.

Are you following the SLAM process? Testing and adding more chlorine every few hours?
