SWG percentage

Hi, trying to get my head around how the percentage factor works on a SWG
I thought either the voltage or the amps were reduced to the indicated percentage
i have been too busy to dismantle control box and measure but i do intend to
i made a post stating that is how they worked,
fortunately a mod picked up that it was wrong and deleted it
after reading as many post as i can find
it appears that it is a time based percentage, ie 70 percent of one hour
the reason i assumed it was electrically controlled is that if i have high salt and set to 100% i get an error
but at 99% it is all ok
are there different styles that are controlled by varying electrical amps/volts
any more info or sources of information greatly appreciated

Most SWGs are a % of time the SWG in generating over some period of time (I have seen reports or anything between 30 minutes and 200 minutes ... varies by manufacturer). I think there are some (maybe more common down there) that actually do somehow vary the output, but I know very little about them beyond that they exist.
