Best way to chlorinate pool

I am a new pool owner and wondering what the best way to chlorinate my pool. I have read not to drop pucks into the skimmer because of the acid accumulation. I read about the floaters but i feel that they are not that great either. I do not have a chlorinator hooked up but wonerdering if this is the way to go?

Hello, and welcome to TFP!

1. Don't put anything in your skimmer unless your pump runs 24/7/365.
2. The accumulation has to do with CYA, Cyanuric Acid. Once that gets high, you will be fighting a losing battle.
3. The best ways to chlorinate are by using liquid chlorine (bleach) or a salt water chlorine generator.
