algae-why?

Although my numbers are in line, I continue to have to literally scrape algae off of the steps and corners of the pool. Despite upping the chlorine, it continues to happen. Is there something I am missing?

Have you followed the ShockLevelAndMAINTAIN Process until you pass the 3 criteria to stop?

A slightly elevated FC level is not going eradicate the existing algae. You need to ensure it is all gone and then the normal FC levels will prevent it from starting.
BTW, a FC of 7.5ppm is not really elevated for a CYA of 60ppm ... that is in fact the target level and you should never let it get below 5ppm, after you complete the SLAM process. See the FC/CYA Chart
