I have metal coping strips between my top vinyl coping and the jchannel liner holder see attached pic. These metal coping strips are rusted out. Is it even necessary to replace? If so, should I replace it with plastic coping strips or metal? Any suggestions? What is the proper name for these parts? Do they make in heavy duty non-rusting material?

I cant see your pics, but i believe you are talking about the top stabilizer rails. They help stabilize the top of the pool so yes they are pretty important. When i replaced mine i primed, and spray painted them to help with rust since they come bare metal.

Thanks for letting me know the name. Stabilizer Rail. Well there are few post in TFP about this items. Believe it or not I'm troubled at finding replacements. Any ideas? My pool is an 18 round Atlantic Chateau (http://www.atlanticpoolproducts.com/product.php?id=1). After calling Atlantic they told me to contact my dealer for any pool part.
