Anyone had trouble getting chlorine into pool?
Opened pool last weekend, added 7.5 lbs of chlorine and still no reading on test strip. Took sample to Sylvan store and they test and say add 7.5 more lbs of chlorine. This is a ton of chlorine so far and still as of this morning no reading on test strip. Sylvan thinks chloramines are causing. Anyone had any experience with this? Should we empty pool and start over? Also, I should mention pool is 40K gallons. Emptying and refilling is expensive.

 Welcome to TFP!!!

Nope. Adding chlorine is easy, you just pour the liquid chlorine into the pool ... or in my case use a SWG ;)

You need to realize that we do not trust test strips nor do we trust pool store testing. If you want to understand your water and take control, you will have to invest in one of the Recommended Test Kits. Unfortunately, there is a monopoly in Canada and you can only get the K-2006 for a very high price.

Once you can post up good test results, we will have no problem advising you on how to get the water fixed up.

How much Pool School have you read? Start with these:
