Low suction when vacuming

Within the last month the suction when vacuuming has dropped significantly. I always prime the hose before I start vacuuming but there are a few spots that hover toward the surface. Could that point to a air leak in the hose? I assume the hose should submerged since it is full of water and air in the line would make a few spots float?

Still have this issue even after trying a different hose. Can't figure it out.

Without the hose connected I can close the main valve so the skimmer is pulling everything in and there are no bubbles. When I put the hose on the water level in the basket drops and the pump is really working. I can pull the hose and engage the main to get water in and everything is fine.
