Has anyone heard that adding Dawn dish liquid to a pool will kill waterbugs etc.? A poolguy told a friend of mine to put 1/4 cup of Dawn in his pool to kill bugs. If this is true, how often can you do it and what effects would it have on your pool tests and chemistry? Its way easier to vac. them up than to chase them with a net!

I have never used it but I have heard of it before (it might have even been in another thread on this site). I very seriously doubt a quarter cup will have any noticeable affect on your chemistry and I would not expect any suds or anything either.

Sounds like it works but creates a chlorine demand to break down the soap.
