Very long story but our builder forgot to put in the supply line for our water features (2 sheer decent falls and 8 deck jets, separate Pentair VS pump). I have zero confidence in them and will likely negotiate a separation and finish the pool myself. I am considering using the skimmer line (the pool has one skimmer) for the supply to my water features and plumbing it so the suction for the water feature pump (WFP) would tee off of the skimmer line at the equipment pad (there is a valve on both the drain and skimmer lines, I would tee off just before that valve on the skimmer line). It seems to me that via the skimmer I have no concerns of a suction or vacuum entrapment issue, the skimmer (2" lines) should be able to supply enough volume and if the pool/spa pump (also a Pentair VS) is running that pump could pull more from the main drain as needed. While I'm not sure it would be an issue I could put a check valve after the tee and before the valve so the WFP does not starve or pull from the pool/spa pump. I really don't want to dig down and add another supply line and, after giving it quite a bit of thought, think this would work quite nicely. Am I missing something or would this be an acceptable (not perfect but acceptable) way to get water to my water features?
Any input would be appreciated.
I hope this isn't overlapping my posts, I touched on it in another post some time back but more asking about adding a line after the pool was completed which, after hearing how the builder wanted to do it I rejected (dig down, use hammer drill and jack hammer to break into pool, patch and plaster patch ... aka - "hack").
