Algae problems, low FC, low Stabilizer

We have some algae in the pool so I took water to the pool store to have it tested. My test results were as follows:

FC .8 ppm
TC .8 ppm
CC 0
CYA 19 ppm
ph 8.3
Hardness 87 ppm
Alkalinity (w/stabilizer correction) 168
Salt 3300

Per their instructions we added 25# calcium, 3# stabilizer, ran superchlorinate for 6 hours, 6# of ph down. We cleaned the algae off the sides and bottom and steps and backwashed before we added the stabilizer. Should we also be shocking the pool at the same time?

Thanks for any help you can provide, we usually have very little problems once we've opened the pool and balanced the chemicals so this is new to us.

Welcome to TFP!

To clear up the pool you need to follow the SLAM process. To do that, you need one of the recommended test kits with the FAS-DPD chlorine test.

Stop trusting the pool store. Low CH does not matter in your pool, so that was money that could have gone towards your test kit.

Have you found Pool School on the forum? Go read the ABCs of water chemistry so we can speak the same language.
