Alkalinity Tests and more

In your case TA is not something you need to particularly worry about in and of itself. But because yours is that high it's just a predictor that your ph will have a tendency to rise and require periodic acid additions. How fast it rises will depend on how much aeration occurs. When your ph reaches the point where you want to adjust it, having the TA in the pool calculator makes the ph adjustment more accurate.

Also knowing the TA of your fill water lets you know if you ever decide to go to a SWCG for your chlorine you'll be making frequent acid additions, particularly early in the season, to keep your ph in line and to bring your TA down. Which is what I have.
