    intex sand filter backwash problem

    i have intex pool that comes with sand filter.
    yesterday i wandted to do backwashing.
    i shut off the pump, and put the valve to backwashing.
    then water automatically started run threw the waste hose while the pump is still OFF.
    i know that i should put the pump ON and then water need to run threw the waste hose.
    what im doing wrong ?

    Nothing. Some water always spills out of my waste line when I switch to waste with the pump off. And if your backwash hose is located lower than the waste outlet, gravity feed acts as a siphon.

    This behavior is by design. Mine does it as well.
