I was wondering do any of you have a setup where you have two pumps. One always running, and a second in standby, in case the other fails? I have a 1HP pump, but I see a few 3/4 HP on craigslist for dirt cheap. I was thinking of getting one and plumbing in with valves. I can simply turn the valves to direct flow when the pump fails?

That is possible, but pumps really don't fail very often, so it isn't really worth the effort.
