Hello, got my 16x48 Intex Ultra up a few weeks ago along with the Hayward skimmer. I need a ball valve as I'm still running the Intex flex hose and cartridge filter. So now if I want to clean the filter I have to lift above water level or let it leak. What a hassle, please help! =)

Would these work to attach the Hayward Skimmer to my Intex flex hose with a ball valve inbetween for my Intex 16' with 635T? Which ball valve and size do I need?
I cant clean my filter without making a mess and losing water LOL!

I use something almost identical to this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/SWIMMING-PO...321?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a92e040a9 It came with my Hayward D.E. filter. I also use a few ball valves that cost $10 at Lowe's, but they are 1-1/2" PVC slip connections. You'd then need a threaded adapter for the skimmer and the hose barb.
Right now I just have the hose pushed on and clamped to the bottom of the Hayward skimmer lol

I have a ball valve right at the pump that I close when cleaning the basket on my pump. When I need to disconnect the suction and return lines to the pool, I close this valve, close the filter, and stick a sock on the return port. Easiest solution, stick a sock in the skimmer and the return, you will be able to clean your filter without draining the pool or getting wet.

What were you using to shut it off with your old skimmer? If you have an Intex valve, just move it to the other end of the hose where it attaches to the pump, like this:

I set up the pool and added hayward skimmer a month ago, didnt use the intex skimmer at all.
What size is the intex hose for 635T and the Hayward skimmer "barb" i guess its called? Sucks HD or lowes dont make it easy...or well Intex LOL

It looks like it just uses the regular Intex 1.5 inch accessory hose like this one I got at Academy: http://m.academy.com/shop/Product_10151_10051_133879_-1__true?N=20001+10001&Ntt=intex+hose&Ntk=All
One end screws directly to my Intex valve, with the other pushed onto the tapered Hayward adapter and then I secured it with a hose clamp.

BTW, your 16" Intex Ultra frame should have come with the same shutoff valves. Mine did, and I have the very same pool.

It might be easier and cheaper to find a cap to close off the old skimmer hole as I did in the pic above, freeing up your valve to be used to close off the line to the pump, versus trying to find a new valve and adapter to fit.

They used this adapter but I have the 1.5" hoses. I think those are 1.25

That photo you posted is my pool, from another thread. Yes, that is a Hayward ball valve. The hoses are Intex 1.5". They came with my 2650 sand filter. The adapters I bought from Doheny's allows me to connect the Hayward skimmer to the Intex hoses. It's working perfectly.
I think I'll order those then, where did u get the ball valve from? Thank you as well

It looks the same but has a different model number SP0722S vs. SP0723. From the descriptions on Amazon, the one I bought (723) is FIP pipe and the 722 is SKT pipe. I have no idea what that means or what the difference is. Maybe a PVC expert can offer some advice.
Nice! That was my next question haha, I'll Def get the 23 then! It all threaded together I see, I'll use some sealant and switch my Intex hose with clamp jammed on the bottom of my skimmer!
