    Opening help next year

We have a 12x24 vinyl pool that we are going to be replacing the liner next season due to the extensive calcium scaling we have on our current liner of 3 years.
We have very hard well water and was wondering if there is a way to prevent this scaling from the start up.

Our specs of fill water is:
    CH 350-400
    TA: ~300
PH stays high usually 8.2-8.4 out of the faucet.

You need to keep the pH in the pool MUCH lower, at least in the 7s. As the CH rises over the years, you will need to maintain the pH a little lower yet.

As you continue to add acid to lower the pH, that will also help lower the TA which will slow the rate at which the pH rises.

ok so would it be advisable to keep it at 7.0 as much as possible. since I can't lower the CH in this area without RO water lol.
And would this prevent future scaling issues?

No, you should keep it between 7.2 and 7.8 and you will be fine while the CH is in the 300s as it climbs due to evaporation and refills over the years, you may need to stay less than 7.5 or so.

Please add your location (City, State or City, Country) to your profile and pool details to your signature as described HERE as it will help us help you in the future.
