    OCLT at normal levels

Does the OCLT need to be done at shock level? Or is it still valid at normal chlorine levels?

OCLT is valid as long as no chlorine is added (turn off SWG) and FC is appropriate for CYA level.

At normal levels, I feel like the loss should be less, like no more than 0.5ppm ... but I have nothing really to back up that feeling.

The OCLT was written to determine the end of the SLAM, so you would be at higher FC levels.

Yes, I thought I read something about OCLT being written with the assumption that FC is at SLAM level, but can't find anything to back that up.
Also, the answer I was given in this thread indicates it is better to have FC at SLAM levels, but it isn't necessary.

    Re: OCLT at normal levels

I'm already a little above normal levels (I'm at 12.5 with a CYA of 70) so I went ahead and did the test and my overnight loss was zero, so I'd say I'm good. My SWG keeps flashing low salt even after a thorough cleaning and I don't have any test strips at the moment to verify a low salt level. So I'm manually dosing right now until my new test strips arrive and I just wanted to be sure my water was still ok since I've never been without my precious SWG before. This is the 4th season with it, so the cell might need to be replaced.
