Don't want to cut ledge of pool during install of SWG

Hi,
We are trying to install our Chlorease CLO1 and it seems as if we need to cut the ledge of the pool so it would fit. I know that is not a good idea but I don't know what else to do.

I have some pictures. The second picture shows the ledge we can't seem to re-attach. Any ideas?

I know ChlorEase is not big around here but I really need some advice.

Just need some suggestions on what I could do.

I don't see any easy solutions. Personally, I would build something that fit over the top rail and provided a place where the ChlorEase clamp could clamp on.
