A little pet peeve of mine - why is the abbeviation SWG generally used? Doesn't that mean salt water generator? And the unit isn't generating salt water, it is generating chlorine from salt water so shouldn't it be SWCG? And if people are lazy and can't be bothered with too many letters than why not go down to SG especially since saltwater is often written as one word, espeically when used as an adjective?

Ah the great imponderables, why are we here, what is for dinner, and what do we call salt systems? All such questions are answered by the collective unconscious. We type what we type and over time we converge on a solution. There must be reasons, but it grows out of a complex organic many person process, so who is to say what those reasons were. SWG is just what we all ended up typing.
