Chlorine and cya question

Hello all, I've had my new pool up for about one week now, intex ultra frame 20' x 52". And I had bought the chlorine tablets 1". I put four of them in the floater, and after a week still seeing 0 for chlorine. So I put four more in, the others are still there but pretty dissolved. After a day of that, still 0 for chlorine. So I put 36 oz. Of regular bleach in and running my pump now. I forgot to say, these are the only things I have added to the pool so far. Should I take out the tablets? Or leave them because they contain cya? I dont have any cya to add atm. And is it super important to have cya anyways?
