Chlorine masuring low with taylor K-2005

I have ordered the TF100 test kit, but am currently using my old Taylor K-2005. For FC, you add 5 drops R001 and 5 drops R002 to 9ml water and shake, then match color. I know my chlorine is high as test strip is at least 10, but the K-2005 is just showing a pale yellow. Could this be due to old reagents? What is the difference between the K-2005 Fc test and the FAS-DPT....

The FC/TC test in the K-2005 reads zero when FC/TC is 12+. The FAS-DPD test we recommend reads FC/CC up to 50.

Does it turn a pale yellow with high levels, or could that indicate old / expired R-0001 or R-0002. My K-2005 is 2 years old..

The DPD reagent bleaches out at super high FC levels.

You can check the reagent by testing your municipal tap water. It should show 1 or 2 FC.
