My backwash valve leaks whenever the pump is on. The piping is metallic not plastic. The contractor from my home warranty usually tries to sell me something instead of just fixing the problem. He says the piping is too old and there are no parts for it (he didn't open anything to check). I'm thinking it just needs a gasket, do you think what he said is possibly true or am I being taken for a ride?
