Question on sequestering agents

It stays in the water, it is just 'deactivated' so it cannot stain or cause other problems. This is why maintenance doses of sequesterant need to be added on a regular basis, to keep the metal 'deactivated'/

Copper levels will go down slowly over time as you backwash, splash out, and otherwise replace water.

You typically have to add a small additional dose of sequestrant once a week, though some people can go longer than that.
