th 0
fc 0
ph 8.4
ta 40
cya 30-50

we really dont have any idea what do we need to do !!!!!

he hook the sand filter already and is running , ....can we put the salt even is green or what do we need to do!!???
sorry !!! and thank you !!!!!

You can start by lowering the PH to around 7.5 and then retest the TA and raise it to around 70. Then it is time to SLAM the pool (instructions in the How To section of Pool School).

Once the algae is cleared up you will want to raise CYA to between 70 and 80, the recommended level for SWG pools.

Welcome!

First thing you need is a decent test kit.

Second is to adjust the pH. You could have metals in the water tinting it green because the water is so alkaline.

Third, use bleach to kill any algae. How much depends on the CYA level. If you haven't added any, your level should be zero - so you can see those strips aren't accurate enough for this.

Finally, when the pool is clear and balanced after the SLAM process, then you add salt and fire off the saltwater generator and enjoy a trouble free pool the rest of the summer with all your new knowledge and your test kit.

You can do this! People have dealt with far worse. Here's some proof. Look at the pictures!
