Split side discussion from here: http://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/80420-TA-levels-and-FC-Issues-Possible Butterfly

While CYA is 35, keep FC between 3 and 7 and never below 3.
You post shows FC 2.5/CC .5 .

Good plan to raise CYA, and FC accordingly. :snorkel:

The higher TA is recommended for pools using trichlor (because it is acidic & can cause pH/TA to crash).

Recommended TA with Bleach TA 70 to 90, and with SWG 60 to 80.

Why does the instruction card with the TF-100 state: "Good TA readings will be around 70 - 90 for salt pools and 100 - 120 for normal pools." when the information here states something different? : http://www.troublefreepool.com/content/134-recommended-levels

Re: TA levels

It is, frankly, not very critical. As the forum and our advice emerges, everything will become more uniform.

For now, we have different people developing different parameters so the guidelines are not always in perfect alignment.....but they are usable.

That said, you can operate your pool for 100 years using either set of guidelines and you will be fine. The TA guidelines simply are not absolute guidelines but general suggestions.
