Draining to lower CYA.

My CYA is pretty high (150ish). I want to drain off a bunch of water and refill, but I'm not sure if I can drain to below the skimmers without getting air in the lines and having problems. If I close the valve for the skimmers and backwash water out only coming from the main drain will I be OK? Any problem if I drain to a little below the returns, or should I keep the water level just above the returns?

If you can pull from just the main drain, that should work fine. I've emptied my entire pool that way!
