Howard Garrett - Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) – Controls Mustard Algae in Pools

Hydrogen Peroxide and chlorine destroy each other quickly, so even if it works, it isn't very practical. The quantity required is extremely high, and then you will be using large amounts of chlorine to re-establish an FC level. Plus, there is no way it can stop the re-infection by pool toys problem, so it doesn't seem any easier. Again, assuming it even works.

I guess it might be more practical if you were running pool-store (very low) levels of chlorine... not much to destroy and not much to re-establish... which I guess is why they said chlorine wouldn't kill mustard algae in the first place ?

It all fits ;)

Hydrogen peroxide is recommended as a disinfectant each time you drain/refill a wooden hot tub if you don't want to use bleach or any form of chlorine. Seems to work OK but reading between the lines they all seem to be saying "you might as well just use bleach".
