lights turn on changing from pool mode to spa mode ???

Hello TFP , newbie here

ok, I have a pool/spa setup with a Aqua link RS8 control , my wife and I just noticed that when when you change from pool mode to spa mode the lights in the pool and spa turn on by themselves ???
AND the pool light switch will not work when controller is in spa mode BUT , it does work in the pool mode ????

Welcome to TFP!

The automation system might be programed to turn on the lights, or the wiring for the lights might be mixed up somehow inside the automation system. Some tracing of how the wiring was done might turn up what is going on. Having the automation system programmed to turn on the lights seems likely enough, but the switch working in one mode but not the other sounds like a wiring problem.

Everything was working fine, just suddenly came on , could it be a relay

A broken/stuck relay wouldn't have the symptoms you describe.

Conceivably it would be a corruption of the automation system programming. The other possibility is a short of some kind in the wiring.

Do you think a system reset might do the trick

You could try power cycling the automation system. A full reset means reprogramming everything, which I don't recommend unless you have gotten quite familiar with the system and your setup.

There should be a circuit breaker somewhere that turns off the automation system.
