Proper ladder placement?

I have an 18', round, above ground pool that "came with the house." I'm not happy with the location that the previous owners had the ladder (plastic a-frame) and am wondering if it's ok to move it. Currently, it's located at about 3:00, if the intake door is 12:00. I figure that's probably the optimal placement, due to circulation, etc. Any thoughts? If I were to move it, where would I be likely to create the most problems? (so I can avoid that, obviously)

Also, if we build a deck and use a metal ladder hung from the deck, is the placement of that crucial, too? I'd love to build it over the pump/filter area to camouflage that stuff, but I don't know if the ladder would interfere.

I would think the best place to place your ladder would be the closest from where you are going from the house. As for the best placement that won't case problem, in my opinion anywhere other then near the in take or out take.
