Has anyone tried a No-Niche skimmer?

I need to replace my old lilypad style skimmer and I saw the Aladdin No-Niche (you can Google it). Has anyone tried this? It seems a bit pricey, but if it works well...
Does anyone know of a better system?

I don't think I would want one of those sitting out in my pool ... I can only imagine the kids hanging on it and breaking it.

Agreed but I don't have an option. That's what this dinosaur has, but it's the floating hat type (Aladdin Wizard) that doesn't collect very well. Also, I don't have kids!

Oh, well with no other option and no kids, might work better. I have no idea of other alternatives besides the PoolSkim.

I saw the PoolSkim and had my finger on the trigger but... alas, the joys of a Jurassic pool, my returns are very small, maybe 1" with no threads or directional eyeball jet modernisms! Remember, we're talking a 1956 or so build, all of my underground pipes are steel, my dad and I replaced all above ground with PVC!

Well, I installed the skimmer and it's awesome. The first day there was a small frog in the basket. This thing sucks up everything! I've never seen the surface so clean! Whenever my lawn was mowed it would get full of little bugs that make it through the screen, it was mowed this morning and half an hour later not one bug! It's killer!

Wow I like that... Had the same issue after my lawn was mowed... pool was always a mess. Now I'm having a daily mess from palm tree flowers. Is that installed in your vacuum port?

It's not on a vacuum port, that's the original skimmer port for this pool, it's very old. This skimmer can be installed on a vacuum port, the instructions shows how to route the pipe. I will try to post a video soon.
