Options for directional water control with aqualiminator return/light

I have an aqualuminator return/light in my pool. It is the only return. The way it is set, it seems to mostly target water on the surface and not deep. The water breaks at the surface and splashes on to the top rail even on low. It does not turn or rotate as far as I can tell, but I'm a new pool owner and could easily be missing something. Can anyone recommend an attachment that could just pop on and off when I want to circulate water more toward the pool bottom? The only optional attachments for this are for a waterfall and a suction side cleaner.

Does the water come out the sides around the light? Is yours set with the slots horizontal? I would only think the surface would be disturbed if the slots were vertical.

Yes, the water comes out of the vents around the lights. Mine is positioned so the water vents are in a horizontal position.
