I have had my pool for 8 years now. I have never had this much trouble with it. My sides feel like sand paper and I haven't been able to see the bottom since I opened it. I've used tones if shock and scrubbed and it will stay cloudy for a day or two and then Algea starts to grow.

That sounds like calcium scaling. Have you been using a lot of cal-hypo? That tends to increase the CH level, eventually leading to scaling.
