pump time for summer scenarios

So last winter (your advice) with the pool covered I ran the pump for one hour four times per day. Worked out fine.

Will take off the cover this week and will have two scenarios. Ambient temp may be about 70.

1) Uncovered, not heated, no one in the pool.
2) Uncovered, heated, say 6 people in the pool twice a day.

What say you all? How many hours how many times per day for these two scenarios?

Would be simple to just turn on the pump and let it go but running the pump is not cheap so would like a more minimal approach.

How are you chlorinating your pool? If you have a SWCG you need to balance the percentage output against the hours run and use your test levels to prove you're at that "Sweet Spot" which shows adequate chlorine levels without excessive pump (electricity) use. Usually they both are at their highest in the hottest summer, and lowered otherwise (as demand is lower and temps cooler).

4 hours may still be plenty. If the pool does not look clean enough for you, raise the run time some.

This of course assumes you maintain adequate FC at all times still.
