need help on chlorine , stabilizer and algicide

OK, we need to back up. Read: ABCs of Water Chemistry

Most tablets are 7-8oz of trichlor ... weigh yours. They add FC and CYA and lower the pH.
The stabilizer you have is Cyanuric acid. It adds only CYA with some lowering of the pH.

OK thank you the confusion is over. So I will just add 800g of stab that will bring my to 30ppm. Then as for the pucks since they are slow dissolving and will bring my cya to 40 ppm eventually. And keep my fc steady somewhat steady should I use 1,2 or 3 pucks in the floating dispenser

hi ive been away for a week or so my fc went down to 1ppm .. cya is 30 .. target fc is 4.. shock is 12 so should i shock my pool to get to 12 or just to 4

Has your test kit arrived? If so, please do all the tests and post the results. That will give the forum a good baseline for further recommendations.

Are you intending to SLAM (shock) the pool for a reason or are you just looking to maintain clean, clear water ?? 12 to SLAM it and 4ppm at a CYA level of 30 to maintain it.

It would also be helpful if you added your location to your profile.

For those of us too set in our ways to go metric like the rest of the world it might be helpful if you added the gallon equivalent of your pool. Makes some of the math much easier.

I saw a bit of algae growing at the ridge going from the shallow to deep end so should I slam or just maintain

And a SLAM means you need a test kit with a FAS-DPD chlorine test. Did you get the kit yet?

After slamming the pool should I shut the pump off and let everything settle to bottom to vacuum is there a benefit to this?

SLAM is a continuous process and it is clearly stated that the pump should be running 24/7.

Should I run the filter on recirculated/ whirlpool initially when adding chemical? Or doesn't matter?

You have to filter it out eventually. If you can not watch the filter pressure, then recirculate is a good option.

Is it better for the chemicals to be on recirculated? My filter runs at 10psi when clean the highest I've seen it go when vacuuming is 13-14 psi...

Sure, just have to clean the filter more often, but saves the water.
