Agp liner replacement

I just had a new liner instslled on my 14 yo doughboy oval, the bottom is full of divots and imperfections in the sand bottom, I called the installer and he told me to see if they smooth out over time with the weight of the water, here are some pics

I just had a new replacement liner installed in my agp, and the sand bottom under the liner is full of imperfections And divots, with the night light on it looks horrible, the installer says it should flatten out over time, I'm thinking that's not gonna happen, should I ask him to redo it or is he right by saying with the weight if the water it may flatten out?

Welcome to TFP.

Those will not smooth out yet they pose no risk or danger to the pool. They are simply cosmetic and a bit ugly. I have them in my pool because I did not do a very good job with it and taking care of my brain injured husband at the time. You can certainly fight all you want with the installer but I doubt he will entertain you and fix it as it causes no real problem with the pool itself.

He needs to come back and redo. Any imperfections under the floor will NOT flatten over time.

Well, I'd certainly try to see if they will smooth it but I wouldn't hold your breath. I'm going to assume the pool bottom wasn't like this before the liner change? Were they tromping around the inside of the pool while installing the liner?

the old liner showed no divets, it was completely smooth, they redid the cove and walked all over the sand when they installed the new liner, we will see what happens tomorrow, hopefully they do the right thing

The pool installer said that he would hate to waste all the new water, just use the pool for the season and he will redo it at the end of the season, what would you guys do?

I think he's stalling. When he sees how clear and sparkly your water is at end of season, he'll try to put you off again. If it were me, I'd insist he take care of it now.

It's your call. Do you want to waste time swimming now worrying about it and waiting for them to come back? I would enjoy it and get on them the last week of August and don't let up til they fix it.

I guess I would get it in writing that he will come back and fix it and then enjoy your season of swimming. Fix it in the fall.

hopfully you don't have a robot cleaner... or that may not be beneficial... i would be ticked. i'm on a well and could not drain and refill. if i have an AGP put up professionall I will make it abundantly clear they have to do it right the first time.

I Just called the company and insisted they fix it right away, i dont want to use the pool like this, lets see what happens

They came back and re did the sand under the liner, this time they troweled the sand and it came out really smooth, just 1 tiny little wrinkle in the wall near the cove, I'm not to worried about it, pool looks great !!
