Here are my readings from this morning.

FC - 5
CYA - 60
TA - 80
PH - 7.4

I put in my reading in pool calc and it says to add 202g by weight of washing soda/soda ash OR add 402g weight of borax.

Should I up my PH to 7.5? Or do I need to do anything else?

Also - what is washing soda? What is it sold as? I have only ever needed to use bleach or stabilizer. Never used washing soda or borax.

Your pH is fine, you do not need to raise it. Are you setting the Targets in PoolMath and not just using the defaults?

You need to keep your FC higher. 5ppm is the minimum for a CYA of 60ppm according to the FC/CYA Chart.

With CYA o 60, keep FC between 5 and 9, and never below 5.

He has a SWG. The FC/CYA chart for SWG pools shows a minimum of 3 and a target of 4. His FC of 5 is fine, but bumping it up a little won't hurt anything. He also does not need to add washing soda or borax, and likely will never need them. His pH will tend to drift up when the SWG is running. His CYA is also fine. We don't know his calcium hardness or his pool surface. Assuming the CH is right for his pool surface, he is right where he needs to be.

Ah missed the SWG ... then I would just keep the FC at 5ppm.

Sorry for the delay.

We have a vinyl pool. I guess Calcium hardness does not matter?

Also, is washing soda? Same as baking soda? Or something else?
