Pressure gauge jumps when pool is in "Spa Mode"

I noticed the other day that when I set my pool to run in "Spa Mode", the pressure gauge on the filter jumps up from about 12psi (where it normally is in "Pool Mode") to about 20psi. This pressure rise only happens when the valves are set for spa operation.

Is this normal?

I'd say yes. My pool does the same. Instead of 3 good-sized pool return fittings and two partial-flow spa fittings, the pump is all the sudden only feeding two jets. Higher pressure gives more velocity and more bubbles and all that I assume. 12 and 20 psi are great numbers. I wouldn't be at all alarmed.

OK, that makes sense. Sort of like putting your thumb over a garden hose and all of a sudden it's spraying with more pressure. Thanks!
