New Install - Intex Ultra Frame 32' x 16' x 52" AG Pool

First of all many thanks to all who contribute to this site which helped avoid many potential mistakes I would have made during this install and several modifications that I never would have considered such as adding the thru-wall skimmer!!



Laying out the 3/4" insulation board


Gorilla Pad layer over the insulation....probably overkill but I had ordered this before I discovered the insulation tip


Liner relaxing in the sun while we take a much needed water break after digging out for the 16" x 16" x 2" blocks

Treated 2" x 16" x 16" (2x8s connected with clips) boards over the concrete pads. I had to dig out to move the blocks against the insulation. Initially I used the Intex dimensions but the legs were only a couple of inches on the blocks. During this dig I recalled reading on this site about the installing the blocks "butted against" the insulation. I had 24 opportunities to kick myself for not recalling that vital piece of information.

Filling process....glad I read on here that the walls sag until completely filled!

Odds and ends left to do but after 2-1/2 long days of work (ground prep was done off and on during the 2 wk period waiting for the pool to arrive)

I love that pool..... I only wish I had the room for the biggest one we could get... You've done excellent prep work to get the foundations level, not an easy thing to do with a pool this large... Take note big Intex pool owners, this is how its done...

Over the past 10 years we started with the Intex blow up ring pool which lasted a season as the kiddos were young. Upgraded to a Intex 15 ft round pool which lasted about 3 yrs and would have made it longer but it was setup with only the supplied equipment and ground cover originally, again kiddos outgrew the size.

Decided to go with this setup and hope to get 4 to 6 yrs out of it or more.

A deck is in the future for sure...

Additional dimensions that may help with the layout preparing for installation...

The insulation base is 32' x 16'. The support legs around the pool extend 7" out from the insulation pad.

The centerline distance between the long side supports is 45"
The centerline distance between the short side supports is 42"

Hi there. Could you measure the space from the corner to the edge of the first brace and between the braces down the width and the length for me please? Cheers

From the corner to the edge of the first brace on the long side is 27", 45" between the braces measured at the centerline.

From the corner to the edge of the first brace on the short side is 23", 42" between the braces measured at the centerline

The support braces are 20" wide outside edge to outside edge.

Correct, using a 32' x 16' layout.

Just keep in mind that the braces are 20" wide and you will need to determine where the center of your pad will be. If you are using a 16" pad as I did you would need to start the edge of the first board on the long side at 29" and the short side at 25".

Cool exactly what I needed to know. I am using 16' x 16' x 4' trailer pads. I know 4' may be overkill but we have weird ground where I live and some on here said the 2' cracked. Rather be on the safe side. I bury them even with the pad not the ground right? If the padding is 1" then bury 3" in the ground?

Ok. Thank you very much that's interesting thanks. The braces on the 32' X 16' are narrower at 20" (508mm) than the braces on the 24' X 12' at 520mm (20 15/32"). I wonder why?

pncsmith. Would it be possible for you to take a measurement at the top rail of your pool, taken from the outside of the poles of two adjacent braces? I have attached a pic of where to take it. I could calculate it from your measurements but it might not be a mm/fractional inch accurate calculation.
